You can do the 480, you just need a non-reference one with a DVI port.

    Is that actually your house?

Okay, I reconsider. I'll be on the plane over right away. :D

In the 4gb department, you have two 480 choices under $200 with a DVI port:
    1. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131706&ignorebbr=1
    2. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131708&ignorebbr=1
In the 8gb department, you can get a Nitro 480 with DVI port for $240:

Though to be fully honest, you don't need 8gb. A 4gb card will be enough for 1080p gaming in high settings and a 4gb 480 will be significantly better than a 4gb 1050ti (which is already better than a 4gb 460). So 4gb is a sweet spot, I think the best thing to look at next is raw processing power and in the under $200 category, the 480 is definitely taking home the trophy, it's the best card AMD has released under the RX series.

Honorable mention, you also can get a 6gb 1060 for $250:

If you're happy, get it. It's a good deal for the price. :)

    Should I get their warranty?

It's really up to you, I never do. The manufacturer's warranty is enough for me.

If you haven't bought it yet, I don't think it would hurt to wait it out a few more days. You might be able to snag something.

Then again, you'll be happy with it either way. I just don't want you jumping the gun after waiting this long. :D

Does it just make the card "look cool" ? or is there more than aesthetics?

It can help cool some components on the back, but really just for looking cool.

    I prefer backplates. I think they're neato.

($170) Okay so the XFX is 12MHz faster. Worth $10 more? Depends on how bad you want a backplate. (amazon link)

($160) The PowerColor does indeed appear to have a backplate. (newegg link) (manufacturer link)

($170) If you're looking to spend $170, check out this MSI card that has two fans and a faster clock than both of the above, but no backplate: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814137050

($175) For $5 more, you can get a card with two fans and a backplate: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125910&ignorebbr=1

The xfx on amazon comes with free one day shipping.... and I do come from the "I want it now" generation, so the speedy shipping vs. paid for, slower shipping makes up for the cost.

    Is the 1070 still maxwell?

    Nvidia GTX 1070 is Pascal.

    10x0 is Pascal
    9x0 is Maxwell

Is that because the driver on the cd is already obsolete?

  23. Private_Ale

Yes, and that driver is brand new.

No point installing a driver just for it to need to be updated immediately afterwards.

    It has arrived!

Only problem is, in my excitement of this purchase, I forgot to order the DVI cable.

I went back and found one with same day delivery as long as I ordered it with $35 of other stuff.... I needed pomade anyway. LOL

The cable should be here by 9:00 p.m.

I will be rebuilding the front end of my wife's van in order to pass the time.......Photos to follow, until my father in law says "stop taking pics and get to work!"

Wow wow! Now that's super fast shipping.

Good luck with the van, I have lots of zip ties from the cavalier if you need any. :D
